How can surrealism and hyperrealism demonstrate that we are living in a distorted reality created by societal norms of “perfection” that limit thinking about beauty in relation to what is natural?
How do societal norms in United States create unrealistic standards of what is beautiful versus what is natural? I have expressed mood with color value and in my ability to allow my work to flow in my artistic hyper realistic goal without perfectionism. I mold together surrealism and hyperrealism to depict a photo in a nonreality. We are in a distorted reality. We are not meant to be perfect as we are aspects of nature. We must learn to have confidence in our uniqueness. My work shows a trapped lifestyle inside of an open world of natural beauty. My sustained investigation has been revised with each piece by forming new ways to express emotion through strictly symbolism. I form captivating color choices through the exaggeration of color value to express that appearance of perfection and illusion of a lighter mood that covers a more unsettling story. This adds to a feeling of altered reality through the illusion of space and distorted scale of objects in as in piece #8. I am learning to feel more comfortable in making things look out of place through the size of certain objects. The experimentation of my compositions has grown to practice more surrealism and distortion of objects.
